D. Perkins Events is a boutique event design and planning service led by me, Datso. With over 20 years of experience in creating memorable events of all types and sizes, I specialize in delivering timeless elegance with a modern touch.
My design aesthetic blends classic elements with contemporary flair, ensuring each event is unique and memorable. I prioritize sustainability by using reusable materials—such as linens, china, and silverware—and sourcing natural, locally grown flowers and decorations whenever possible. Our goal is to minimize waste and create beautiful, environmentally-conscious celebrations.
At D. Perkins Events, I offer highly customized planning and design services. To give my clients the best possible experience, I do my best to take on only one event per week, allowing me to focus fully on your vision. As a result, we don’t offer set packages or prices, but my past clients can attest that the investment is always worthwhile.

Our Story
Over 20 years ago, I planned and designed my first wedding. While that marriage didn’t last, my love for timeless event design and coordination certainly did. Today, D. Perkins Events is a family business—my husband (I remarried and got it right!) and one or both of our daughters are often by my side, helping set up alongside me and my amazing team.
As my event planning career grew, I discovered my love for graphic design, which led me to go back to school and further hone my creative skills. During that time, I focused on my studies and my family, only taking on a select few events. But when I returned to event planning, I came back with a fresh perspective, new skills, and even more to offer.
In those years, my husband and I also built Humboldt County’s first (and still most well-equipped) mobile bar, the Box Bar, staffed by top local mixologists, adding another dimension to the services we provide.
At D. Perkins Events, I offer a multifaceted planning and design experience that’s as customized as it is comprehensive. From my organically grown flower and herb garden offerings to custom builds, I’m here to ensure that every detail is just right. Throughout the planning process, I’m always available—whether it’s through phone calls, emails, or the occasional late-night text to ease any concerns.
I’m not the bubbly, over-the-top type, but I am the “get things done, we’ve got this” person you want by your side. In our rural area, flexibility and problem-solving are essential, and those are skills I’ve mastered. Let’s make your event everything you’ve dreamed of and more.
